In 2024-04, my 6th grade son transferred from a private to a public elementary school.
We parents were under the assumption that he was being enrolled in the regular class (通常学級), with some part-time instruction (通級による指導) when needed.
But after a few months the school principal explained us that he actually was enrolled in the special needs class (特別支援学級) from the beginning.
Weird, isn’t it?
Since I learned about the Act on Protection of Personal Information in the meanhwile, I decided to send another information disclosure request to find out how that decision has been made.
I asked for the following:
Information obtained from all institutions and stakeholders involved in the decision to enroll my son in a special needs class at XX Elementary School in April 2024 and all communications and records exchanged between the parties involved.
